Bullfinch Feeding

According to the ‘experts’ bullfinches will not come to bird feeders. Here at Plough Lane two pair have been spotted on the feeder at once! Unfortunately our visitor (human) did not have the camera ready at that point but he did manage to catch one pair helping themselves.

World War II Walk - Coleshill (National Trust)

Find out more about war time intelligence and the top secret training of civilian resistance operatives at a walk led by the Warden on 29th August. More details on the National Trust website. (45 minutes drive from us)

Sherston Boules Day

On Saturday, 17th July 2010, the 25th Sherston Boules Day will celebrate a tournament that is the longest-lasting and the largest, one-day boules event in the country.

Day-long live music, entertainments, craft and market stalls, children’s activities and a range of food and drink at pavement bars and cafes will offer a relaxing contrast to fiercely fought matches.

We still have standard pitches available around this date if you are interested.

Spring Update - National Trust Properties

It’s been a lovely spring with mostly good weather. The local National Trust Gardens have been a picture (I’m told) and many of the open gardens in the National Garden Scheme have had lovely weather for their open days. The National Arboretum at Westonbirt has also been lovely - as it is at any time of the year.

Derek and Carol Townsend have kindly let me publish these photos of The Courts Gardens and Westonbirt which they took during their recent stay with us.
